What We Offer
Our vision is to develop the dental nurse and dental administrator leaders and mentors of tomorrow. We will open the door for individuals who want to realise their potential, and give them the tools for success.
OTT is unique in its approach to learning! It is the whole OTT experience which is unique, and students who learn with us and subsequently attend for interview for Orthodontic Therapy have all heard about our interprofessional, student–centred and focused qualities, delivered by our Specialist-led, friendly team. Our approach is evidence-based, having been fully researched and published as part of a PhD study.
All of our courses and qualifications meet the General Dental Council guidelines and attract verifiable continual professional development credits.
Who are these courses aimed at?
Registered dental care professionals who wish to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in order to work as additional dental duties nurses, therapists, dentists or those who work in orthodontics that wish to study at Masters level. We are also developing our portfolio of courses for the non registrant members of the dental team.
What are the areas of study?
Students can choose to study initially for ‘taster’ (award) programmes at Introductory level with our Champion Range for non registrants. The Awards offer the opportunity for registrants to develop a variety of additional skills which can stand alone or having successfully completed the Award they may have the opportunity to study at Certificate and Diploma level.
How are the courses delivered?
The Award and Certificate courses are mainly delivered online, using our e-learning environment. Students are guided and supported by a Tutor and a Mentor. Where necessary, the practical skills associated with all the units are supported by workshops. The workshops take place at an OTT centre. The Diploma and Masters programmes are part time programmes involving taught study days at Leamington Spa Orthodontic Centre.
How are the qualifications assessed?
The students knowledge, understanding and skills are assessed by the completion of a number of tasks which are designed to determine the competence of the candidate. The tasks are usually a combination of a reflective e-portfolio of skills and/or an e assessment. Candidates have three attempts at each e-assessment. The e-assessments are completed and submitted using the e-learning platform and the qualifications are awarded by Dental Team Qualifications.
